ABOUT US

Our Mission Statement
Inside Sports provides year round programs supporting youth sports education, amateur athletics, and at-risk youth diversion through sports. Our programs promote healthy and active living through physical fitness, and are available to all community members regardless of income, age, gender, ethnicity, ability, or special needs.

About Us...
The Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of Inside Sports, continue to work in a focused direction to support our community through our Mission. Our dream is to expand the programs and opportunities Inside Sports can bring to our community. The programs we hope to offer include sports instruction, indoor practice, tournaments, fitness and sports educational resources, community service classes, health seminars, and special programs for unique needs groups in addition to the league programs we currently offer.
All activities and programs of Inside Sports are currently the responsibility of a volunteer Board of Directors, including local business owners, athletes, parents and other community members who are committed to working hard to achieve the goals of Inside Sports. They all contribute many hours of volunteer time to support our program goals. The Board works with other community partners including the Southwest Rotary for our scoreboard, the Humboldt Area Foundation, which donates funds to support scholarships for low-income children and teens and the St. Joseph Health System for allowing us the opportunity to partner in their "Healthy For Life" programs at area schools.

Inside Sports was created as a nonprofit, community benefit organization in 2001.  Realizing the community’s great loss due to the Mad River Indoor Arena’s closure, Inside Sports launched the highly successful Futsal program at the Samoa Gym in December 2001. Now in our 17th year, we have over 500 participants in our Futsal program.

Our current program has expanded and plays Futsal at the Bethel Church Gym in Eureka and the Humboldt Bay Christian School in Bayside.  In the past Inside Sports had a very successful Futsal program out of the Scotia Gym, but was unable to continue the program after the Scotia Gym was closed.  We are on a continuing search for a new location in the Eel River Valley to provide Futsal to the community again. We have offered our program in the past out of the Blue Lake School gym as well as teh College of the Redwoods.

Additionally, Inside Sports offers after-school programs and school physical education programs.  In partnership with the St. Joseph Health System Healthy for Life program, Inside Sports provides Futsal and high energy aerobic activities to the after school programs at Rio Dell's Eagle Prairie Elementary School, Loleta Elementary School and Blue Lake Elementary School.  A grant from the Humboldt Area Foundation in 2014 will allow us to offer our program to more schools.
