Inside Sports Will Miss Joe Homem…. |
The Inside Sports Board of Directors, has
accepted Joe Homem’s resignation from our board after 10 years of service. Thank you
Joe Homem, for your dedicated service to Inside Sports! You have worked tirelessly to
support our Futsal program as the Referee’s Director! Your selfless service and
contribution over the years are greatly appreciated and have been extremely
valuable to Inside Sports! Rest assured your efforts did not go unnoticed!
Our
Futsal program is a direct result of your initiative to bring Futsal back to the north
coast in 2000 and by 2001 the program was up and running! With your help and guidance
Inside Sports was launched. The key to the successful launch of our original program in
Samoa, our expansion into Scotia, and school programs, was your knowledge and expertise!
This is quite an accomplishment for you and all of us that work to make our program
successful. Your personal dedication, and long hours shared on behalf of Inside Sports has
enabled hundreds of Futsal fans to pursue their love of soccer and improve their skills.
From tournaments, to Drop in, to play on Saturday’s, Sunday’s, and throughout
the week, as a Referee, you called the games as you saw them and even swept the gym floor
several times a day! As a coach you encouraged and inspired young Futsal players to be the
best they could be!
We appreciate all of your hard work Joe!
We will miss you on the court and we will miss you in the board room!

New Direction For Inside
Sports…
In December 2007, Inside Sports, was approached by the Eel River Valley community, and asked to bring our Futsal program to Scotia while continuing our Futsal program in Samoa. We listened, and we acted! By February 23, 2008, we successfully launched our program in Scotia, adding another 133 youth and adult players to our program, committed to healthy living styles through exercise. We realized this was an exciting new opportunity, and flexible way to meet the needs of many outlying communities.
Inside Sports provides year round programs supporting youth sports education, amateur athletics, and at-risk youth diversion through sports. Our programs promote healthy and active living through physical fitness, and are available to all community members regardless of income, age, gender, ethnicity, ability, or special needs. This is the Mission of Inside Sports. The Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of Inside Sports, continue to work in a focused direction to support our community through our Mission. Our dream is to expand the programs and opportunities Inside Sports can bring to our community. While striving and working toward this goal, we realized a greater opportunity to serve our local communities, support our mission, our school systems, and the mission's of other health organizations.
Inside Sports is committed to developing healthy living styles and wellness through exercise for children and adults. Exercise decreases the risks of childhood obesity, high blood pressure, stroke, and heart disease in adults. We have the flexibility to bring our current Futsal program or other programs to many communities to support healthy living styles. Inside Sports will continue our Futsal program at the Samoa Gym while striving to expand by taking our program to venues in other communities.

Volunteers Needed |
As Inside Sports continues to grow the need for volunteers also grows. Inside Sports is looking for volunteers on an operational and board level. Help is needed with coaching teams, preparing mailings, making phone calls, filing, data entry, grant writing, and a variety of other ways. High school students looking for service learning hours are welcome, and we will work around your schedule – short or long term, whatever commitment you can make! New Policies Adopted |
The board of directors of Inside Sports are constantly re- evaluating our programs and policies, and carefully consider all suggestions from players, parents, referees and the community. Recently, the board adopted the following new policies.
- Foot faults have been eliminated.
- Teams can no longer score from a kick off. Kick offs are an indirect kick.
- ANY dissent toward a referee will be an automatic yellow card
- Teams in the under 14, high school, adult coed and women's leagues with 8 points more than their opponent will forfeit one player from the field until the score differential reaches 7.
- REMINDER Teams in the under 8, under 10 and under 12 leagues with more than 4 points than their opponent will forfeit one player from the field until the score differential reaches 3.

TEAM FORMATION
Youth Division: Minimum of 5, maximum of 8 players per team.
Adult Division: Minimum of 7, maximum of 10 players per team.
Players may sign up individually or as a team.
Team registration packets are available by calling Inside Sports.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Inside Sports offers Youth League half-fee scholarships.
